Taebo is a group aerobic exercise usually accompanied by quick, mainly house music, combining karate and box features. This type of workout began in 1989 in the USA and a former American martial arts champion Billy Blanks is considered to be its founder and innovator. Even though taebo belongs among aerobic exercises, it is different from other aerobic workouts mainly by its philosophy, vigour and by the absence of choreography in the taebo workout.
